Attention deficit disorder (also known as ADD) is a condition that typically develops in childhood. People with this condition cannot stay focused on a task or sit still for long periods. Children with the condition often act without thinking and have a difficult time finishing a project or activity. In 1994, the name of this disorder was changed to attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Today, both names are used interchangeably.
