Concerta 36 mg Tablets

Concerta® (methylphenidate extended release) is a stimulant medication that is available by prescription to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children, teenagers, and adults up to 65 years of age.

Four different strengths are available for this drug, including:

  • Concerta 18 mg tablets
  • Concerta 27 mg tablets
  • Concerta 36 mg tablets
  • Concerta 54 mg tablets.

Most people who are new to methylphenidate products typically start with Concerta 18 mg or Concerta 36 mg tablets. For those who have previously taken other methylphenidate drugs, the recommended Concerta dosage is based on your previous dose of these other drugs.

Since Concerta comes in the form of extended-release tablets, it only needs to be taken once a day. It should be taken at the same time every morning, first thing after waking up.

(Click Concerta Dosing for more detailed dosing guidelines for adults and children, and for people who have taken methylphenidate products before versus those who are new to this drug.)
