Guanethidine
Taking Desoxyn and guanethidine together can decrease the effectiveness of guanethidine. Your healthcare provider may need to adjust your dose of these drugs.
Insulin
Taking Desoxyn with insulin can increase your risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). You may eat less while taking Desoxyn (because Desoxyn is an appetite suppressant), and your healthcare provider may need to decrease your insulin dose.
Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs)
Taking Desoxyn and MAO inhibitors together can cause life-threatening side effects, such as very high blood pressure. Do not take Desoxyn if you have taken an MAOI within the past 14 days.
Phenothiazines
Taking Desoxyn and phenothiazines together may decrease the effectiveness of Desoxyn. Your healthcare provider may need to adjust your dose of these drugs.
Tricyclic Antidepressants
Taking Desoxyn and tricyclic antidepressants together can change the way the brain reacts to Desoxyn, possibly causing more side effects. Your healthcare provider may need to adjust your dose of these drugs.
