The medicine comes in the form of tablets and Spansules® (specially designed capsules that release the medication slowly over time). Spansules only need to be taken once a day, eliminating the need to take the drug at work or at school.
Spansules are available in three different strengths, including:
The recommended starting Dexedrine dosage for treating narcolepsy is 5 mg or 10 mg daily (tablets or Spansules), depending on your age.
For the treatment of ADHD, the recommended dose for children 3 to 5 years old is 2.5 mg once daily (tablet only). For children 6 years and older, the usual recommended dosage is 5 mg once or twice daily (tablets), or 5 mg to 10 mg once daily (Spansules).
