Antacids or Acid Reducers
Reducing the acid level of the stomach could change the way
Focalin XR is released. It is not known how different
antacids or acid reducers might affect
Focalin XR. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking Focalin XR along with antacids or acids reducers.
Clonidine (Catapres)
Taking Focalin XR with clonidine can increase your risk of serious side effects. Your healthcare provider may need to adjust your doses of these medications.
MAO Inhibitors
Taking Focalin XR and MAO inhibitors together can cause life-threatening side effects, such as very
high blood pressure. Do not take Focalin XR and MAO inhibitors together unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so. Also, do not take Focalin XR if you have taken an MAO inhibitor within the past two weeks.
Pressors
Taking Focalin XR and pressors together can cause an increase in side effects, particularly increased
blood pressure and heart rate. Your healthcare provider may need to monitor your heart rate and blood pressure closely and adjust your doses of these drugs if necessary.
Seizure Medications
Taking Focalin XR with
seizure medications can increase the amount of the
seizure medication in the blood, perhaps increasing your risk of side effects. Your healthcare provider may need to decrease your dose of the seizure medication.
SSRI Antidepressants
Taking Focalin XR with
SSRI antidepressants can increase the amount of the antidepressant in your blood, perhaps increasing your risk of side effects. Your healthcare provider may need to decrease your dose of the antidepressant.
