Focalin® is a stimulant; however, it has a calming effect, which makes it effective in treating attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). In clinical studies, children and teenagers with ADHD who took Focalin had significant improvement in their symptoms, compared to children and teenagers with ADHD who did not take it. Commonly reported side effects of Focalin include nausea, fever, and decreased appetite.
