Focalin® is commonly prescribed as a treatment for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Although the drug is a stimulant, it has a calming effect, which is opposite of what might be expected. In clinical studies, children and teenagers with ADHD who took Focalin had significant improvement in their symptoms, compared to children and teenagers with ADHD who did not take it. The drug comes in tablet form and is typically taken twice daily.
