Intuniv Drug Interactions
When certain medicines (such as Stavzor, Biaxin, or blood pressure drugs) are taken with Intuniv, drug interactions can occur. These interactions can lead to problems such as low blood pressure, confusion, and extreme drowsiness. To help ensure your safety during treatment with Intuniv, make sure your healthcare provider is aware of all your current medications.
Intuniv™ (guanfacine ER) can potentially interact with several other medications. Some of the medicines that may lead to drug interactions with Intuniv include but are not limited to:
- Alcohol or other substances or medications that cause drowsiness
- Blood pressure medications
- CYP3A4 inhibitor medications, such as:
- Amprenavir (Agenerase®)
- Atazanavir (Reyataz®)
- Clarithromycin (Biaxin®)
- Conivaptan (Vaprisol®)
- Darunavir (Prezista®)
- Delavirdine (Rescriptor®)
- Fosamprenavir (Lexiva®)
- Imatinib (Gleevec®)
- Indinavir (Crixivan®)
- Isoniazid
- Itraconazole (Sporanox®)
- Ketoconazole (Nizoral®)
- Lopinavir and ritonavir (Kaletra®)
- Miconazole
- Nefazodone (Serzone®)
- Nelfinavir (Viracept®)
- Nicardipine (Cardene®)
- Posaconazole (Noxafil®)
- Quinidine
- Ritonavir (Norvir®)
- Saquinavir (Fortovase®, Invirase®)
- Telithromycin (Ketek®)
- Voriconazole (VFEND®)
- Valproate medications, such as:
