ADHD Home > Adderall XR 15 mg Capsules

Of the six strengths available for Adderall XR® (amphetamine-dextroamphetamine extended release), Adderall XR 15 mg capsules are in the middle of the range. Adderall XR is typically taken once a day, first thing in the morning. The capsules contain tiny beads that release the medication slowly, so it is important to swallow Adderall XR whole (do not chew or crush it).
The dose of Adderall XR your healthcare provider recommends will vary depending on a number of factors, including:
  • Your age
  • Other ADHD medications you have tried
  • Other medical conditions you may have
  • Other medications you are currently taking.
Refer to the following table for the recommended dosing for Adderall XR based on the person's age:
6 to 12 years
10 to 30 mg once daily
13 to 17 years
10 to 20 mg once daily
20 mg once daily
Generally, a lower dosage of Adderall XR should be tried first. Also, the Adderall XR dosage should be increased slowly and only if necessary.
