KapvayTM (clonidine ER) is available only by prescription and is used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). It is not a stimulant or a controlled substance, and it is the first ADHD medication that can be used in combination with stimulants.
Kapvay is approved for use in children and adolescents age 6 to 17 years old. It is not appropriate for everyone. To help ensure a safe treatment process, be sure your child's healthcare provider has up-to-date information on your child's medical history and current medications.
This medicine comes in the form of an extended-release tablet and is taken once or twice a day. Side effects may include drowsiness, fatigue, and irritability. In most cases, reactions to this drug are minor and easy to treat.
