ADHD Home > Methylin Drug Information

Methylin® (methylphenidate hydrochloride) is used for the treatment of the following conditions:
By producing a calming effect in children with ADHD, Methylin makes it easier for these children to stay focused and pay attention. It also produces a stimulating effect to help people with narcolepsy stay awake during the day.
Although this stimulant is generally safe and effective, not everyone can (or should) use this drug. Methylin's safety information should be discussed with your healthcare provider before starting treatment to minimize risks. For example, you may not be able to use it if you have certain allergies, are taking certain medications, or are pregnant or breastfeeding.
