ADHD Home > Concerta 18 mg

Concerta® (methylphenidate extended release) is a prescription medicine used for improving symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

The tablets are available in four different strengths, including:

  • Concerta 18 mg
  • Concerta 27 mg
  • Concerta 36 mg
  • Concerta 54 mg.

For people who have taken other forms of methylphenidate (the active ingredient of Concerta), dosing will vary, depending on your previous dosage of these products. For example, if your previous methylphenidate dose was 5 mg two or three times a day, your new starting dosage would be Concerta 18 mg once daily.

If you are new to methylphenidate, your starting dosage will be either Concerta 18 mg or 36 mg once daily. Your healthcare provider may choose to increase your dosage gradually if needed.

(Click Concerta Dosing for more detailed dosing guidelines for this medication, including recommended doses for people who have used other methylphenidate products and for those who have never used methylphenidate.)
