Focalin drug interactions can lead to problems such as an increased risk of side effects and increased levels of some drugs in your blood. Certain drug interactions with Focalin can even cause life-threatening side effects, such as very high blood pressure. Among the drugs that can potentially interact with Focalin are SSRIs, seizure medications, and MAOIs.

An Overview of Focalin Drug Interactions

Focalin® (dexmethylphenidate hydrochloride) can potentially interact with several drugs. Some of the drugs that may lead to Focalin interactions include:
  • Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), including:




    • Dopamine (Intropin®)
    • Dobutamine (Dobutrex®)
    • Epinephrine (Adrenalin®, EpiPen®)
    • Norepinephrine (Levophed®)
