How Does Intuniv Work?

Intuniv is a long-acting form of guanfacine, a medication that has been used for decades to treat high blood pressure. It belongs to a class of drugs known as alpha-2a adrenergic receptor agonists. At this time, it is unknown exactly how Intuniv works to treat ADHD.
 

Off-Label Uses of Intuniv

On occasion, your healthcare provider may recommend this medication for something other than treating ADHD in individuals 6 to 17 years old. For example, using Intuniv in young children or adults would be considered an off-label use.
