How Does This Medication Work?

Kapvay is a long-acting form of clonidine, a medication that has been used for decades to treat high blood pressure. It belongs to a class of medications known as alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonists. At this time, it is unknown exactly how Kapvay works for treating ADHD.

Off-Label Uses of Kapvay

On occasion, your healthcare provider may recommend Kapvay for something other than treating ADHD in individuals age 6 to 17 years of age. Using Kapvay in younger children or adults is considered an off-label use for this medication.
