Methylin® (methylphenidate hydrochloride) is a prescription medication used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and narcolepsy. There are currently four forms of Methylin available:
Methylin ER tablets
Methylin chewable tablets.
Methylin oral solution.
Methylin is manufactured by Mallinckrodt, Inc. The chewable tablets and oral solution are marketed by Shionogi Pharma, Inc.
Regular Methylin tablets are actually a generic version of Ritalin®, and Methylin ER tablets are actually a generic version of Ritalin SR®. Other generic versions of these products are also available.
Methylin chewable tablets and oral solution are considered to be brand-name products. The oral solution (but not the chewable tablets) is available in generic form.
