Vyvanse™ (lisdexamfetamine dimesylate) is a prescription stimulant medication approved for treating attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). It is approved for use in adults, adolescents, and children ages 6 to 12.
The medicine comes in capsule form and is available in numerous different strengths, including:
  • 20 mg Vyvanse capsules
  • 30 mg Vyvanse capsules
  • 40 mg Vyvanse capsules
  • 50 mg Vyvanse capsules
  • 60 mg Vyvanse capsules
  • 70 mg Vyvanse capsules.
There are several factors your healthcare provider will consider before making a dosing recommendation for your situation, including other existing medical conditions you have and other ADHD medications you may have previously tried.
The usual starting Vyvanse dosage for adults, adolescents, and children is 30 mg daily, taken in the morning. The maximum recommended dose for this medication is 70 mg per day.
For children who have difficulty swallowing capsules, Vyvanse capsules can be opened and the contents dissolved in a glass of water. The child should immediately drink the entire glass of water.
