Methylin® is a prescription medication used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (
ADHD) and
narcolepsy. There are currently two forms of Methylin available:
- Methylin Chewable Tablets® (methylphenidate chewable tablets)
- Methylin Oral Solution® (methylphenidate oral solution).
At one time, Methylin ER® tablets and regular Methylin (not chewable) tablets were available, but the manufacturer has since changed the names of these products to Methylphenidate ER Tablets and Methylphenidate Hydrochloride Tablets.
Methylin Chewable Tablets and Methylin Oral Solution are made by Alliant Pharmaceuticals. Although the patents for these products have expired, they are still the only chewable or liquid forms of methylphenidate available. There is no generic Methylin at this point in time.
