A healthcare provider may recommend
Methylin® 10 mg tablets or solution for treating attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (
ADHD) or
narcolepsy. Methylin comes in two forms: chewable tablets or an oral solution (liquid). It is usually taken by mouth two or three times daily. In most cases, the last dose should be taken before 6 p.m. (taking it later could cause difficulty sleeping).
For children ages six and older, Methylin should be started at 5 mg twice a day (before breakfast and lunch). Your child's healthcare provider may slowly increase the dose up to 60 mg total per day, if necessary.
For adults, the total dosage of Methylin per day is usually 20 mg to 30 mg (divided into two or three doses). Some people may need less Methylin, while others may need as much as 60 mg per day.
