Effects of Strattera

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a condition that affects both adults and children. It is characterized by an inability to sit still and pay attention and control one's behavior. Strattera^® (atomoxetine hydrochloride) has proven effective at controlling these and other ADHD symptoms. In clinical studies on children ages 6 to 18, those taking the drug experienced significant improvement in behavioral symptoms compared to those not taking it.

 

This drug is believed to work by affecting the levels of a certain chemical in the brain, called norepinephrine, although its exact mechanism is unclear. It comes in capsule form and is taken either once or twice a day.

 

Despite the medication's effectiveness, Strattera is not appropriate for everyone and side effects are possible. Common adverse reactions include nausea, dry mouth, and upper abdominal (stomach) pain.
