Strattera® (
atomoxetine hydrochloride) is a prescription medication used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (
ADHD). Strattera is the first and only non-stimulant medication approved to treat ADHD. Unlike stimulant ADHD medications, Strattera is unlikely to cause withdrawal symptoms. In fact, there is no need to slowly decrease the dose when stopping Strattera; the medication can usually be stopped altogether without causing any problems. However, you should always talk with your healthcare provider before stopping any medication, including Strattera.
Of course, your ADHD symptoms may quickly return once you stop taking Strattera. Although these are not Strattera withdrawal symptoms, they can be just as bothersome. Talk with your healthcare provider if you are noticing any symptoms after stopping Strattera.
